The shaadi season does not start on the first wedding date. It starts months earlier, in living rooms where families compare venues on their phones, save boutique reels and forward caterer menus to the family WhatsApp group. By the time the band arrives, the money is already spent.
This year the main season opens after Dev Uthani Ekadashi on Friday 20 November 2026, runs into mid-December, pauses for kharmas, and returns after Makar Sankranti in mid-January. These wedding season marketing ideas are for the businesses that live off those weeks, from banquet halls and caterers to jewellers, salons, boutiques, decorators and photographers.
Know who is actually deciding
A wedding has many buyers. The couple picks the look, the parents pick the budget, and an aunt or two picks the caterer. Your marketing has to speak to all of them.
Reels and Instagram work for the couple. A clean PDF or a one-page price card on WhatsApp works for parents, who want to compare and forward. Google reviews matter to everyone, because no family wants to risk a stranger with their daughter’s wedding. Plan content for each of these people instead of one generic “book now” post.
Show real weddings, not stock glamour
Families trust what they can recognise. A banquet hall that posts a 20-second walkthrough of last Saturday’s sangeet, with the actual lights and the actual stage, gets more enquiries than one that posts an expensive render.
Ask clients for permission to share, then build a small library through the season. Before and after shots of the decor, the bride’s entry, the caterer’s live counter, the mehendi detail. This content also keeps working on Google, so upload the best of it to your Google Business Profile as well.
Package the decision for the family
Shaadi buyers are tired of open-ended quotes. A clear package with a name, a guest range and a price band makes the first conversation easy. A caterer can offer three menus for 200, 400 and 600 guests. A salon can sell a bridal package with two trials, the wedding day and one family member. A jeweller can create a “first gold for the bride” range at a fixed budget.
Put the package on a single page with photos, and keep it ready to send on WhatsApp within minutes of an enquiry. Speed of reply wins a surprising number of bookings.
Banquet hall marketing for the booking calendar
For venues, the calendar itself is the product. Post your open dates every fortnight, especially the popular muhurat dates, because “only two Sundays left in December” moves people who have been dithering. Offer a short site-visit slot on weekday evenings and promote it in stories.
Search ads for “banquet hall in [your city]” and “marriage lawn near me” can be worth running in October and early November, when families are shortlisting. Keep the radius tight and send the click straight to a WhatsApp chat.
Partner with the other wedding vendors
Couples need eight to ten vendors. You already know the good ones in your city. A simple referral circle, where the decorator recommends the photographer and the photographer recommends the salon, brings warm leads at no cost.
Run joint content too. A styled shoot with a boutique, a jeweller and a makeup artist in your venue gives all four businesses a week of posts.
Follow up after the wedding
The season is also when you collect the reviews and referrals for next year. Send a thank-you message within a week, with a request for a Google review and permission to use photos. Families are happiest just after the event and most forgetful a month later.
Keep a list of every enquiry that did not convert. Many of them have a cousin’s wedding in February.
Wedding business promotion on Google
Families search before they call. “Caterers in Aligarh for 300 guests”, “bridal makeup near me” and “marriage hall with parking” are typed thousands of times in the weeks before the season. Make sure your Google Business Profile lists every service you offer, shows the capacity of each hall or the size of events you handle, and carries photos from this year, not 2019.
Reviews from real couples carry enormous weight here. A review that says “the food was hot for all 500 guests and the staff stayed till 2 am” will win you more bookings than any ad, because it answers the exact fear a family has. Ask for those reviews deliberately, and reply to each one by name.
