Every brand that posts festival greetings in India ends up chasing dates at the last minute. Someone in the team asks “Holi kab hai?” on a Thursday, and a rushed creative goes up on the wrong day. A festival calendar 2027 India list, made once and shared with the whole team, ends that problem for a year.
Below is the 2027 festival list we use at Jugadwale for client planning, month by month. Hindu festival dates follow the lunar calendar and Islamic dates depend on the moon sighting, so treat those marked provisional as the likely date and confirm a few days ahead.
January to March 2027
The year opens with New Year’s Day on Friday 1 January. Makar Sankranti and Pongal fall together on Friday 15 January, with Lohri celebrated on the evening before. National Youth Day is on 12 January, Parakram Diwas (Netaji’s birth anniversary) on 23 January and Republic Day on Tuesday 26 January.
February brings Vasant Panchami on Thursday 11 February and Valentine’s Day on 14 February, with the whole Valentine week before it. Ramadan is expected to begin around 9 February (provisional). Shivaji Jayanti is on 19 February and Magha Purnima on 20 February.
March is packed. Maha Shivratri is on Saturday 6 March, International Women’s Day on 8 March and Eid ul-Fitr is expected around 10 March (provisional). Holika Dahan is on Sunday 21 March and Rangwali Holi on Monday 22 March. Good Friday falls on 26 March and Easter on 28 March.
April to June 2027
Chaitra Navratri begins on Wednesday 7 April, the same day as Gudi Padwa and Ugadi. Baisakhi and Tamil New Year arrive in mid-April, Ram Navami is on Thursday 15 April and Hanuman Jayanti on Tuesday 20 April.
May has Akshaya Tritiya on Sunday 9 May, a big day for jewellers and property sellers, followed by Eid al-Adha around 17 May (provisional) and Buddha Purnima on Thursday 20 May. June is lighter on festivals, with Ganga Dussehra on 13 June and International Yoga Day on 21 June, which suits health, fitness and food brands.
July to September 2027
Jagannath Rath Yatra is on Monday 5 July and Guru Purnima on Sunday 18 July, a natural day for schools, coaching institutes and anyone with a teacher in their brand story. Independence Day on 15 August is a Sunday in 2027.
Hariyali Teej falls on 4 August, Raksha Bandhan on Tuesday 17 August and Janmashtami on Wednesday 25 August. Ganesh Chaturthi is on Saturday 4 September, with Ganesh Visarjan on 14 September. Navratri begins on Thursday 30 September.
October to December 2027
Dussehra is on Saturday 9 October and Karwa Chauth on Monday 18 October. The Diwali 2027 date is Friday 29 October, with Dhanteras on Wednesday 27 October, Govardhan Puja on 30 October and Bhai Dooj on Sunday 31 October. Chhath Puja follows on Thursday 4 November.
Kartik Purnima and Guru Nanak Jayanti fall in mid-November, and the wedding season runs through November and early December. Christmas on Saturday 25 December closes the year.
How to turn the 2027 festival list into a posting plan
A calendar is only useful when it turns into tasks. Go through the list and mark each festival as one of three types for your brand.
Selling festivals are the days your customers actually spend money on what you sell, such as Dhanteras for a jeweller or Raksha Bandhan for a sweet shop. These need an offer, ads and posts starting two to three weeks early.
Greeting festivals matter to your audience but do not drive sales for you. One good creative on the morning of the day is enough.
Skip festivals are the ones your audience does not celebrate. Posting for them looks careless, not inclusive.
Most local brands end up with six to ten selling festivals and fifteen to twenty greeting days in a year. That is a manageable list, and it gives the design team a full year of lead time.
Use the monthly lists for the finer detail
This yearly overview covers the big days. Our monthly posts go deeper, with national days, awareness days and regional festivals for each month. See the October 2026 events list for the format, and look out for the January, February and March 2027 lists on our blog in the coming weeks.
